I no longer sell this title but have this page to provide helpful information about using the game. Worldstart.com will probably still have this game if you are trying to purchase it.

You will need to use the back button in your browser to return to this page as i put it here only because it 's still listed and displayed by search engines and you could be someone who bought it from me and it may help you with the software.

Snap! 400 Word Search

Think you know the Rolling Stones songs? World Capitals? Snap! 400 Word Searches, Trivia, timed play, and triangulation in over 400 word searches. Subjects range from Famous Spouses to Forein Currencies. Snap! 400 Word Searches even lets you create your own puzzles.

One of the things that i really like about 400 Word Searches is that you can create your own custom puzzles. You could put all the names of your children and their pets in the puzzle or you could put in a spelling list that they are working on at school to help make learning fun. You could make a list of definitions and have them find the correct word in the puzzle.

Here are some sample puzzles that i created and scanned. Just click on the green colored links below to see them.

At the Beach  Family Names

Opening screen after you click on Word Search from the Start Button then Programs then Gsp then Word Search.

400 Word Search opening screen

Next you choose a game by choosing a category and a game then clicking OK.

Choosing game to play

Look at a clue in the text box at the bottom of the screen and see if you can guess the word that is hidden in the puzzle and then find it. Once you've found the word, point the mouse at the beginning of the word and drag it to the end of the word and release the left mouse button. If you are correct a line will be drawn through the word and it will be checked off the clue list.

Playing 400 Word Searches

If you have trouble guessing the word as I do on a lot of the clues, just highlight the clue and then click the icon with the yellow pluses and red minuses and a dialog box will appear with the answer.

Solving clue

The left magnifying glass will draw a line through the word for the selected clue. The magnifying glass on the right will solve the whole puzzle for you. The icon with the red arrow resets the clock and the puzzle you are working on to the beginning. The icon with the yellow tabs around a grid will take you back to choose another game. The gray icon will print an unsolved puzzle of the puzzle you are working on. The screwdriver icon lets you change the way the letters appear in the grid. The icon that looks like a book with a question mark on it just gives information on the publishers of this software. To read the manual go to the Start Button, Programs, Gsp, Word Search, Manual. Finally the icon with the green pencil lets you create your own puzzle with your own words!

Making a word search

  1. Click the green plus sign. Type in your word and click OK. Warning this software will let you misspell things so check your spelling. Repeat the process until you have all the words you want.
  2. Click the icon with the three circles to create your puzzle. Don't worry that it hasn't filled in the whole puzzle it does this after you save it and choose it as a User Created Games from the categories and the name you saved it under from Games.
  3. Next click the icon with the green arrow and grid to save your puzzle. Choose a name that fits the category of words you have chosen for your puzzle; the name you choose will be printed at the top of your puzzle if you print it out on paper.
  4. Click the green pencil with the red arrow to return to the game choices. Choose User Created Games from the categories and the name you saved your puzzle under from the Games and click ok.
  5. While making your puzzle the trash can icon is used to delete all the words in your list. The red minus icon will delete a selected word from your list. The icon with the small yellow bars all around it will start a new puzzle creation. The icon with the 2 yellow arrows beside it is used to change the size of the grid in the puzzle you're creating. The maximum grid size is 20X20 tiles. The icon with the red circle and blue square is used to change the shape of your grid. There are 17 shapes to choose from.
  6. You will not have to remember all this because if you hover your mouse over an icon, text appears telling you what that icon does.
