If you download the shareware version of Homemade Typing, when you first run the program, you'll see the Nag screen that tells you how to get your password and lets you either enter it or use the trial version. You can use the trial version as long as you like. Note that the code number will be different for each download so don't use this screenshot for sending me your code number.

1. Choose from 3 backdrops.
2. Choose the speed you want to play by clicking Beginner, Fast or Expert. Then start the exercise that you want by clicking the blue circle next to it.
If you start with the a exercise and finish typing all those characters, b exercise is automatically loaded and you continue all the way through the i exercise and will have typed every key on the alphanumerical keyboard 25 or more times. If you feel that you have the alphabetical keys down and want to practice the numbers and special characters on the alphanumerical keyboard just choose the e exercise.
To break things up do exercises j through m. My favorite is m because you never run out of characters to type and they cover the whole alphanumerical keyboard. This helps you learn where all the keys are in a short time.

Type the characters off the Aliens before they get away; hit the <Esc> button to stop playing.

Start your exercise by clicking the blue circle next to it. Unlike in the game these exercises are done one at a time and you just choose the one you want.

In the help menu, you'll find all you need to know to touch type using both the alphanumerical and the number pad keys.
