And Their
Surviving Friends

Lady entered into my life in the summer of 1982. I had gone to the local humane society to get a kitten for the one I had just gotten to keep her company, but when I walked into the dog room, there was this dog with big, brown, sad looking eyes looking at me. It was love at first sight. I adopted her and she became my soul mate for 14 years. Life with her wasn't easy at first. She was not house broken and I had a tough time breaking her since she was already 8 months old, but in due time, we accomplished that. She also was petrified riding in a car, but with constant persistence we over came that also. We became best friends and she went with me wherever I went.
Lady was no ordinary dog. I swear she had ESP since she new everything I was thinking about and she always judged my friends. If she didn't like them, she let me know about it and she was always 100% right and they turned out to be jerks, but over all, she loved most everybody. Everybody also loved her and she was always welcomed into their homes. Over the years she did some shenanigans like stealing food. One time I had my neighbor over for dinner and during eating, her dog was terrizing my cat in the back room. We went to call her dog off and when we got back to the kitchen, Lady had her plate cleaned. Needless to say, my neighbor never came over again for dinner. Another time, I ordered out for pizza and when I picked it up, they didn't put enough sauce on it so I stopped at the party store to get a bottle of pizza sauce and when I got back into the car to put the sauce on the pizza, well, lets just say, there was no pizza. I could not believe she ate the whole pizza in just a short time and she didn't even leave me one piece. Yet another time, I was having a cook out and grilled 12 foot long hot dogs, I needed some mustard and catsups so I quickly ran into the house to get them and when I came out, the plate was clean. After awhile, I learned her tactics so I never left food in her reach again.
I remember the time when a friend and I went out to lunch' I had Lady in the car with the window half way down not thinking for one minute that she could get out , well when we came out of the restaurant my friend says" your dog is not in the car" and I said,"ya right" but when I got to the car she was not in there. I called and called her and finally she comes running out of the swamp all muddy and she decided to make a stop at this brand new very clean car and put her muddy paw prints all over the door. I called her and finally she came and jumped into my car, we went home and she had a bath.
It was a cold winter day and I let Lady out to go potty and when I went to let her back in' she was no were to be found. I called her name but she did not come running. I wasn't to worried at that time since I knew she was a bit stubborn but after about 10 minutes, I called her name again and still no Lady. By that time I was getting very worried so I jumped into my car to look for her. I never did find her that night. It was so bitter cold out and every day I went to look for her but always came home alone. I did not know what to do but pray and I prayed like crazy to have a safe return of my little girl. A week went by and still no signs of her but I never gave up praying and looking for her. It was about a week and a half when my other dog woke me in the middle of the night and I thought I heard a faint whimper outside. I jumped out of bed and ran to open the door and it was my dear Lady. It was a very happy reunion and we went to bed and cuddled the rest of the night. The next morning I checked her out for frost bite but she just had a tiny bit on her paws. Apparently, someone had my dog for all that time and must have kicked her back outside knowing her bad habits .
I could go on and on about my girl but now I will get to the sad memories of my girl until her remaining months. It was the summer of"95" when her health started to fade away. She started loosing her fur and was slowing down big time. She no longer wanted to go for rides and she was having bad bathroom habits so I took her to the vet and was diagnosed with lung cancer. She lived until Febuaray 26, 1996 and died at home in my arms around midnight.
That is when part of my heart and soul left also. She was the one and only true love of my life and I still miss her to this day.
Is There Life after Death?
I would like to share my most wonderful experience that I had about 10 months after Lady passed away. My heart was so broken and I had a hard time dealing with every day life but every night I would go into my quite room and meditate. I had a picture of Lady and a special candle lit on a table facing my chair. I needed to see my girl one more time and wanted to know if she was doing ok. Over the past 10 months, nothing happened until one morning about 5:30. I was having such a beautiful dream of Lady and I was able to hug and cuddle with her. I remember I was kissing her most beautiful soft fur and could not stop hugging her. All of a sudden, I woke up to find my quite room lit up like it was on fire. The whole room was a solid glowing light. I flew out of bed thinking the room was on fire but when I opened the door, it was the candle burning. I knew it was a sign from Lady. There is no way that candle could light itself and burn the way it did. I tried to get it to burn again but it never would glow. To this day' I can not explain what happened but I do know' there is life after death.

Blossoms Story
In the summer of"92" Blossom became part of my family. At that time I did not want another cat but that wasn't meant to be. Every night, I would hear a cat crawling around under the trailer but when I went to see what was going on, she would vanish, so I started calling her casper. I decided I was going to try and catch the cat and take it in to be fixed so no unwanted babies would be born but it was too late. By the time I managed to grab her she was quite large and lumpy in the middle. I knew then she was pregnant. That is how she got her name Blossom. Since I did not want any more animals I left her be and told her to go home if she had one. It was about 3 days latter she decided to have her kittens up in the insulation under the mobile home but at that time I did not know it. It was Memorial weekend and when I got back from an outing, my dog, Lady went right to the spot where Blossom had her kittens. I had no idea what she was doing at the time but when I went to see what she was up to, there were 2 newly born kittens laying on the ground. I knew the mother had to be around somewhere so I ran into the trailer to get a flash light to look under the mobile home up inside the insulation and sure enough there she was with 2 more kittens, so I reached in and got her and the babies out. I looked all over to see if there was anymore kittens but I did not see any so I assumed that was it. I could not leave Blossom outside with her new family so I decided to fix up a spare bedroom for her to raise her young. So that was the day she entered my life. Latter that same night around 11pm I had this strong feeling to go back out where Blossom had her kittens but I did not know why. I kept pushing that feeling a side but it was too strong to ignore so I went out there. Thank God I did. I heard a faint meow and knew there was one left behind so I had to get the flash light once again and I finally was able to get her out. I searched under the trailer very closely this time to make sure no more kittens were left. I reunited her with her mommy and boy was she hungry. The next morning there was yet another kitten but it was born dead. That made a total of six kittens. Well, the 5 surviving kittens grew up to be healthy, naughty cats. Blossom never really did become an affectionate cat, she would always run and hide from everybody but in due time she became to trust me.
In December of 2001 she was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the jaw. At that time I knew nothing of the disease. My vet suggested to have the operation done as soon as possible so I scheduled it one week latter. I told my vet that I did not want her to remove the jaw but to only take the lump out but as she was doing the operation, the jaw cracked so she had to take the whole lower left jaw out. Blossom was able to come home the next day and you wouldn't even know she had such a major operation. When I let her out of her cat carrier she took off like a lighting bolt and was running all over the place. I managed to catch her and put her in a large dog crate for a couple of days to give her some time to heal. Things went well at first, she was able to eat on her own and was able to keep her tongue in her mouth but that didn't last long. A month latter she was failing fast. She started to loose hair around her face on the side her surgery was done and one eye was looking very strange and soon she was blind in that eye. A few days latter, she went totally blind in both eyes and at that time I knew there was no hope for her. I knew then she was dieing and she made it clear to me she was starting to suffer so I called the vet to come to the house and ease her out of her pain. I put Blossom to rest on Febuaray 13, 2002. Blossom is well missed and she was an excellent mother to her offspring.

This is Tommy, Blossom's son
Tommy was always a laid back cat that would never hurt a fly. I always called him my cotton picken floppin Tom being that he liked to pick at my shirt and then flop down until I petted him. He would keep that up for hours at a time. Tommy loved everybody and loved to be close to all the other kitties and never liked to be alone. When his mother became sick, he shied away from her and would never lay beside her like he used to do. I think he knew something was up and was not able to cope with it. I sat down with him one night and told him that his mother was very sick and wasn't going to be around much longer and that he should spend time with her. Since the talk he stayed right by her side and never left except to eat. About a month after Blossom was diagnosed with SCC I noticed Tommy was drooling at the mouth and had a bad odor. I took him to the same vet I did with his mother and she told me he had resorped lesions of the gums. I had the operation done and had a couple of teeth removed but he never did recoup from it. He continued to drool and had a very foul odor of his mouth. He got to where he could not eat since all the food would drool out of his mouth. He was becoming skin and bones so I took him to a different vet and she suspected cancer. Tommy was withering away so my new vet suggested a feeding tube. At first I didn't think I was going to go that route and let nature take its course but after thinking about it I gave the go ahead of having the tube put in. While she was inserting the tube she took a biopsy of the tongue. The results came back as Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tongue. The same kind of cancer his mother had. The tube feeding went fine but his tongue would bleed all the time but he still had the will to live. After a month I noticed he was starting to go and hide in places and wanted to be alone. I called my vet a couple of times to have him put to rest but each time, he would perk up so I decided not to do it then. The last time he was hiding and had nothing to do with me or the other cats I then decided this is it. I called my vet and she came to my house to help him cross over. Just before she got to my house, Tommy came out of his hiding place and went to the food bowl wanting to eat. It broke my heart when I decided to let him go that night. I will always wonder if I did the right thing or not at that time. Tommy was put to rest on August 15, 2002.

In Memory of Moezy, August 1986 - January 15, 2001 (my sisters cat.)
Moe was also the brother to my Spook
My sister's daughter brought home a kitten back in April of"86" and my sister did not want a pet. She hated cats but her daughter went against her will and brought home this tiny bundle of fur. Well, her daughter decided she no longer wanted to care for the kitten so her mother took over and fell in love. It was in August when my sister called me and wanted me to go with her to the local humane society to pick out a companion for Beeper. I did not want to go since I already had 4 cats but she talked me into it. We made an afternoon of it and visited the humane society. We looked at all the kitties but were drawn to these 2 particular kittens in one of the cages. One kitten was black and white and the other was all black. We could not decide who would take which kitten since one was a male and the other was a female but when we were holding the kittens, the black and white one took off like a speeding bullet and was running all over the place. I decided I wanted the calmer kitten and she took the black and white one and I took the all black one. Her cat became Moezy and mine became Spook.

Spook has always been a loner cat and if one of the other cats got into her turf she would stare them down until they backed off. She's not the most cuddly cat and has her own personality. I guess that is why I love her so much. Spook will be 17 years old around the latter part of June of 2003 and has many health problems and I am taking it day by day with her. She was diagnosed with CRF in August of 2002. I give her fluids every other day along with supplements. I brought her back in February 2003 and my vet found a strange lump inside of her about the size of a small egg. She suspects cancer and wanted to operated to take the lump out to see if its cancer for sure and what kind it is but, due to her poor health, I decided not to have any surgery done. My vet recommended giving her PolyMVA to see if that will help shrink the tumor so I stared giving it to her around the end of Febuaray. It seemed to help since the tumor had not grown until I started lowering the dosage to 1 mil a day instead of the 2 mils a day that I was giving her. So, I upped the dosage again in the hopes it will help to shrink the tumor. She also gets CoQ10, Shiitake & Maitake mushrooms, salmon oil and Cell Forte mixed in her food and I have to assist feed her since she eats very little on her own. In May my vet discovered she had high blood pressure and she is also very anemic. I started her on Norvasc for the BP May 8th and on May 19th she was started on Epogen for her anemia. I believe the PolyMVA is helping her live this long and thanks to my vet for suggesting it, it was a godsend. We are fighting a constant battle and I will continue to fight this battle until its time for Spook to leave this earth.

A candle is shining in loving memory to all the animals that passed on that were in my life. You all brought joy to my heart and I will never forget you.

This is Kitty (Begger). She is the oldest in the family and she turned 21 in may of 2003. She is a loner cat and doesn't get along with the rest of the family so she has her own upstairs apartment. I call her my hand cat because every time she sees my hand, she goes for it and rubs until I give her head scratches. She is my bed partner at night and will keep nudging my hand if they are outside the covers. No wonder why I wake up tired at times.
